NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — The historic Boon Street train depot is now home to a fast-casual food market.
Boon Street Market, situated along the Narragansett Pier, officially opened its doors earlier this month.
The marketplace boasts six fast-casual food options, ranging from sandwiches, seafood and burgers to pizza, ramen and tacos. There are also two full service bars that offer a variety of specialty cocktails and local brews.
Those who swing by for a bite to eat can either take their food to go or take advantage of the marketplace's indoor food court and outdoor patio.
The marketplace used to be home to a passenger train depot for the Narragansett Pier Rail Road. The train station was first built back in 1896 and has weathered the dozens of storms that have devastated the Narragansett coastline.
Though the building has served a variety of purposes since train traffic ceased back in 1964, the marketplace is the most significant of those endeavors.
Boon Street Market is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., though the marketplace stops serving food around midnight.
