NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — A total of nine people have now been arrested in connection with a fight last weekend at the Block Island Ferry terminal in Narragansett.
Narragansett police announced two additional arrests on Tuesday: 41-year-old Jordan Leighty of Richmond and 54-year-old James R. Cole Jr. of Westerly. The two men turned themselves in and are both charged with disorderly conduct, according to police.
The incident Saturday night was said to involve 20 to 30 people. Police said two were taken to the hospital with injuries and seven were taken into custody.
The majority of the suspects are charged with disorderly conduct, but some are facing additional charges for allegedly assaulting police officers and resisting arrest.
Two of the suspects, 36-year-old Michael Lopes and his brother, 32-year-old Henry Lopes Jr., were arraigned on Monday. The other five suspects are due to appear in court in the coming days.
The reason the fight broke out remains unclear. Police said the incident is still under investigation.
