NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — The line was long outside of a now-closed Narragansett restaurant Monday afternoon as former patrons waited to receive gift card refunds.

The Coastal Cabin Restaurant shuttered last week after four years in business. Tavern on Main in South Kingstown, which is run by the same owner, also closed for good last week after seven years.

Christian D'Agostino told 12 News in a statement that he decided to close both restaurants for "personal reasons," though he did not elaborate.

"We always intended on refunding the gift cards," he added.

The Coastal Cabin was open Monday between noon and 8 p.m. to accept gift card refunds in person for both restaurants.

The line for gift card refunds stretched from the front door of the restaurant down into the parking lot.

"It was always busy," Narragansett resident Ernie Silvia said while waiting in line. "It was a really good place, and I think everyone is disappointed that it closed."

Those who couldn't make it to The Coastal Cabin and would still like a refund can email the 16-digit gift card number starting with "8627" to manager@coastalcabinri.com.

The Bike Stop Cafe in Narragansett is also honoring gift cards from The Coastal Cabin for 50% of their face value up to $50 through March 16.
