NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — Three people were rescued near Whale Rock, off the coast of Narragansett, on Saturday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard said a 19-foot boat became disabled and was in danger of drifting into the rocks. They tried to anchor but were not successful.
Multiple agencies responded and rescued all three people and took them to shore unharmed. Crews also stopped the boat before it hit the rocks.
Even though the summer boating season is coming to an end, the Coast Guard emphasized the importance of knowing how to communicate with the emergency response system.
