NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — A Richmond man is facing several charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a North Kingstown nursing home patient last year, R.I. Attorney General Peter Neronha announced on Friday.
Scott A. Leski, 54, is charged with first-degree sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, and two counts of patient abuse.
Authorities allege that on Dec. 16, 2023, Leski sexually assaulted a 77-year-old male patient while employed as a nurse for Bayview Rehabilitation at Scalabrini. The R.I. Department of Health was notified two days later, court documents show.
On Dec. 22, Leski voluntarily surrendered his state nursing license.
On Jan. 5, Bayview Rehabilitation administrator Armani Sepe shared in a statement that the nurse was no longer employed at the facility.
An indictment was unsealed during a hearing on Friday in Washington County Superior Court, where Leski was arraigned and pleaded not guilty.
The 54-year-old was ordered to be held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston.
Leski is due back in court Aug. 13 set for a bail review and status conference.
