NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — North Kingstown police want students K-12 to take a pledge against bullying.
The North Kingstown Police Department is launching a campaign on July 28 with support from several local advocacy groups, including Black Lives Matter RI, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island and United Way.
"Bullying is not just a school or student issue; it's a community issue," North Kingstown Police Chief John Urban said. "This collaborative initiative aims to foster a safer and more inclusive environment for our children, youth and our community by eliminating bias and promoting understanding and respect for all individuals."
Students who take the pledge against bullying and promise to promote kindness, inclusivity and respect will receive a bracelet.
From Aug. 25 until Sept. 1, a number of local businesses will be offering rewards to students who take the pledge and show their bracelets.
