NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Golfers will be hitting the links in North Kingstown on Monday for a good cause.

The 16th Annual Driving Away Parkinson's Disease golf tournament will be held at the Quidnessett Country Club.

Parkinson's is a brain disorder that causes unintended or uncontrollable movements like shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with balance.

Bill in North Providence was diagnosed with Parkinson's more than 10 years ago. He told 12 News it can be difficult to concentrate on what he's doing, but tries to live his life as best as he can.

"A typical day is always an adventure. Never seem to actually know what I'm going to be doing that day," he said. "However, I try to have something planned, have a little fun, as much as I can and deal with the everyday problems I'm faced with with Parkinson's."

Check-in for the tournament begins at 11 a.m. It's sold out, but those interested in making a donation can do so online.
