Pride Month: Check out these free local events

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — June is LGBTQ Pride Month, and every year, it's celebrated with events that attract millions of participants around the world, according to the Library of Congress.

From parades to festivals, here is a look at free local pride events.

Rhode Island

East Providence

June 1: The city will raise the Pride flag at East Providence City Hall at 10 a.m. Attendees will then make their way to Pierce Memorial Field for a celebration.

Pawtucket

June 3: Pawtucket will be holding a Pride flag raising at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall on Roosevelt Avenue.

Providence

June 7: The 2nd Annual "Big Pride Flea" will be held at Farm Fresh RI on Sims Avenue from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. There will be more than 75 local vendors including vintage artists, bakers, nonprofits and farmers.

June 15: "Rhode Island PrideFest" and "Illuminated Night Parade" are returning to downtown Providence. The festival will be at District Park on either side of the pedestrian bridge. The festival will open at noon. The parade starts at 8 p.m. and organizers say it will be visible from Dorrance, Washington, Empire and Weybosset streets.

Newport

June 4: The Pride flags ceremony will start at 5p.m. at Equality Park. Attendees will then walk to Newport City Hall at 5:30 p.m.

June 29: The annual free Pride festival will kick off at 11 a.m. with a bike parade. Following the bike parade, there will be a festival from noon until 6 p.m. at the Great Friends Meeting House on Farewell Street.

North Kingstown

June 2: Towards an Anti-Racist North Kingstown (TANK) is hosting the town's second annual Pride parade. The family-friendly event will be held at Wickford Village on Sunday at 2 p.m. There will be a Pride Festival at Wickford Middle School following the parade.

Westerly

June 1: "Pride in the Park" will be at Wilcox Park from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. featuring food, activities and crafts.

West Warwick

June 1: The family-friendly "West Warwick Pride" event will run from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the West Warwick Civic Center. There will be an artists' market, story time and food trucks.

Woonsocket

June 9: River Island Park will host the "Woonsocket Pride Festival" from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. There will be drag performances, food trucks, vendors and speeches from community leaders.

Massachusetts

Fall River

June 2: Fall River Pride will be held from noon until 4 p.m. at the Gates of the City on Ponta Delgada Boulevard. The family-friendly event will feature music, games, food trucks, vendors and drag performances.

New Bedford

June 1: Rain or shine, Southcoast Pride will be returning at Buttonwood Park from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. The event will feature music, dancing, food and performances for the whole family.

Taunton

June 8: Southcoast Pride will be hosting another event from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hopewell Park. The event will feature music, dancing, food and performances for the whole family as well.
