WESTERLY, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after a fire destroyed a home in Westerly Friday morning.
Officials said they got a call from an aircraft around 7:30 a.m. saying there was a fire in the area, then a 911 call confirmed it was at a home on Ayers Road.

Upon arrival, heavy flames were seen shooting out of the home and three-quarters of it had already collapsed.
Getting water to the scene was difficult due to how far away the hydrant was.
"Water is a hard situation down here. The hydrant's a pretty good distance away," Dunn's Corner Fire Chief Keith Kenyon said. "We got 3,000 feet [of hose] laid out just relay pumping to the scene."
No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
The Rhode Island Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
