NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — The University of Rhode Island (URI) is reminding the public of parking restrictions at the Kingston Amtrak Railroad Station.
Parking at Kingston station remains prohibited, except for ticketed Amtrak passengers and bike path users.
According to the R.I. Department of Transportation, security guards will be checking for valid Amtrak tickets.
URI said any other vehicles caught parked at the station will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.
Off-campus satellite parking is available for free year-round at Wickford Junction. The facility, while 12 miles away from URI's Kingston campus, has a covered garage and MBTA commuter rail services.
RIPTA also offers frequent service between the campus and Wickford Garage.
Additionally, URI students are eligible to purchase a 50% discounted RIPTA pass at the Campus Store.
Those with further questions are advised to visit URI's parking page or call the transportation and parking office at (401) 874-9281.
