SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — More than 300 patients, residents, donors, and citizens showed up at a forum Tuesday night aimed at saving South County Hospital.
Speakers with "Save South County Hospital" voiced their concerns and called on Chief Executive Officer Aaron Robinson to step down. The group said his salary of nearly $1 million is excessive as the hospital "bleeds cash."
The group added that despite the months of demand, hospital officials have refused to work with them on changes to the hospital.
A spokesperson for the hospital told 12 News, "While we continue to listen to those concerns, we assert that the claims made by this group are intentionally misleading. This group's actions are causing harm to the very institution, staff, and patients they claim to protect."
The hospital is calling on the group to stop.
