SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — A beloved South Kingstown restaurant is closing for good this weekend after 85 years in business.
PHIL's Main Street Grille announced on social media Friday that its last day open will be Sunday.
"Thank you for making PHIL's a part of your lives," the social media post reads. "Your support has been greatly appreciated."
PHIL's describes itself as being a family-owned downtown icon dating back to the 1940s.
The diner is known for serving breakfast all day, as well as lunch and dinner starting at 11 a.m. PHIL's also has a heated rooftop deck and bar, which has been a popular spot for live entertainment.
"As we say goodbye, we invite you to join us one last time to celebrate the memories we've created together," the social media post continues. "We sincerely hope to see you before we close our doors."
The reason behind the sudden closure has not been made public.
