3 displaced by fire in Richmond

RICHMOND, R.I. (WPRI) -- Three people were forced from their home after a fire broke out on Saturday morning in Richmond.

Crews responding to Chelsea Farm Drive just before 11 a.m. were met with heavy flames coming from the garage that were extending to the house.

Richmond Carolina District Fire Chief Scott Barber said the fire was knocked down quickly, with the home sustaining mostly smoke damage and very little water damage.

There were two people inside at the time, according to Barber, but neither suffered any injuries. One of the two were brought to the hospital for evaluation, Barber said.

An investigation is underway into what caused the fire.
