SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — One person is in the hospital after being hit by a car on campus at the University of Rhode Island.
A university spokesperson told 12 News that a URI staff member was struck around 6 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Lower College Road and Campus Avenue.
The victim was immediately taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment and observation, though the extent of their injuries is unknown.
The spokesperson said that the driver, a current URI student, is fully cooperating as the investigation remains ongoing.
