NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — The Narragansett Police Department announced on Wednesday that Chief Sean Corrigan will be retiring in November.

Corrigan's final day will be Nov. 8 after serving in law enforcement for nearly three decades.

"It has been an extreme pleasure to serve the Narragansett Police Department for the last 28 years," Corrigan said. "I am profoundly grateful for the support I have received from all members of the police department, town employees, the Town Council, the citizens of Narragansett and our federal and state law enforcement partners."

Corrigan first became a police officer for the department in 1996 and has been chief since 2016.

Captain Kyle Rekas will be succeeding Corrigan as the town's next police chief.
