EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Commencement season is almost over in Rhode Island this year. Salve Regina University, Providence College (PC) and the University of Rhode Island (URI) wrapped up their commencement events on Sunday.
Salve Regina held their 74th commencement ceremony on their campus in Newport. According to the university, this year's class of graduating students was their largest, with 823 earning degrees.
Delivering this year's commencement address for Salve Regina was Susan Eisenhower, who is the granddaughter of 34th U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower. She also received an honorary degree from the university.
U.S. Sen. Jack Reed also made a speech congratulating this year's graduates.
This year saw four undergraduate valedictorians for the Class of 2024 at Salve Regina: Cailin Aline Martin, Sofia Elizabeth Abuin, Ashley Louise Lefebvre and Jessica Marie Roberts.
Sunday was the last day for URI's commencement weekend, which began on Friday.
PC's ceremony took place at the Amica Mutual Pavilion (AMP) and was the final day for their commencement week, which began on Friday. Dr. Arthur Brooks, an author and Harvard professor, delivered the commencement address.
There are two more colleges in Rhode Island left for this year's commencement season: Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Brown's ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 26 and RISD's will take place on Saturday, June 1.
