CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — No one was home when a fire ripped through a Charlestown home, causing the roof to collapse on Thursday.

Crews were called to Cobleigh Street just before 7 p.m. and were met with heavy flames. Fire Chief Don Rathbone said firefighters had a difficult time getting into the single-story home.

"It had a tin roof, but all the wooden supports underneath it burned away," Rathbone said. "You can walk in there without hitting your head, but just barely."

According to Rathbone, almost everything in the home was burned. A vehicle parked next to the home also appeared to be severely damaged by the fire.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. No one was injured.
