HOPKINTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A Connecticut man was arrested in Hopkinton on Tuesday after he reportedly hit a construction worker with his car on I-95 North in Stonington.
Connecticut State Police said the victim suffered minor injuries after being hit from behind by a GMC Sierra. Workers were in the left lane of the highway, which had been shut down for a construction project, when the victim was struck.
Connecticut troopers caught up to the vehicle near the state line and gave Rhode Island State Police the vehicle's updated location.
Rhode Island troopers were able to arrest the driver, 46-year-old Julio Macancela, and charge him with driving under the influence of liquor and/or drugs.
Macancela will eventually face charges in connection with the incident in Stonington as well.
