CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) -- The summer heat isn't preventing Rhode Islanders from enjoying themselves this weekend at outdoor events.

The 39th annual Charlestown Seafood Festival, which kicked off Friday, continued day two of its weekend-long festivities on Saturday.

Organizers told 12 News this year's festival has seen more attendees than last year.

This event offers live music, rides and more alongside an array of seafood. Saturday night will also contain a fireworks show.

The event's organizers are also taking measures to make sure attendees stay cool.

"Lots of water people have wet towels on them, misting fans, umbrellas, we have the food tents," Heather Paliotta, the seafood festival's executive director, said. "We take care of our volunteers and my family and friends."

Sunday is the festival's final day.
