RICHMOND, R.I. (WPRI) — A 17-year-old from Connecticut was arrested on Thursday for allegedly crashing a stolen car in the Kingstown Road roundabout.
Richmond police say the New Haven teen ran away from the crash, but was later caught with the help of state police in an outbuilding of Richmond Elementary School.
He was arraigned in R.I. Family Court on charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and being a fugitive from justice.
The crashed vehicle had been reported stolen to North Kingstown police earlier that day.
Police learned the suspect had failed to appear in a New Haven court to face a gun charge earlier in the week.
He is currently being held at the R.I. Training School as he awaits extradition to Connecticut.
